The Fate of the Furious, also known as Fast & Furious 8, arrives in cinemas 12 April 2017 and there’s been a radical change in the format. These films have evolved from racing films with a bit of crime, to heist capers, to international espionage in cars but one thing has remained constant – Vin Diesel is the good guy. Okay, except in the first sequel…and Tokyo Drift…and actually he was a bit ambiguous throughout. Anyway, he’s been the leading man but this trailer, with Dom apparently switched to the dark side, means Dwayne Johnson appears to have an expanded role. That perhaps makes sense given Paul Walker’s death and his character’s departure. This trailer gives some more hints that there may be more to Dom’s turn than meets the eye with Charlize Theron’s Cipher (yes, really) having been behind the curtain during the gangs’ recent adventures.
F. Gary Gray directs a cast including Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell and Helen Mirren.
